Harvest Time At Frantsila Farm
The gathering of the harvest is a very special time here at the herb farm. After sowing the seeds by hand in early spring, we now carefully hand pick and process those self-same plants in early autumn. It really is a magical journey.
Our factory is now filled with sacks of dried flowers and herbs and we are busy preserving the summer’s vitality. For example, distilling master, Leena Pullinen, distills herbs and flowers into organic cold pressed oils and organic alcohol, using a traditional method. These raw materials are brought together in Virpi Raipala-Cormier’s original recipes, which we use to make a range of natural cosmetics and other wellness and health products.
Next, our fields and gardens will shift towards a long winter sleep. We have been witnessing this change of seasons at our farm, in the village of Kyröspohja, for many centuries. In fact, Frantsila farm has been in the same family for over 300 years, with a specific focus on organic farming since 1977. The pure air of the countryside and healthy, clean soil are critical elements in growing our healthy plants. High quality botanical ingredients plus our small batch production process guarantees a consistently high quality across all our products.
For example, echinacea purpurea, is one of the most important herbs for autumn and the upcoming winter season, as it is well known for its immune system boosting properties, which we offer in our Echinacea tincture.
